I try to get my eight hours of sleep every night. I go to bed with enough time to wake up and hopefully feel rested. Sometimes though, I feel worse than before I laid down to sleep! Bustle and VeryWell Health says that there are some indicators that your sleep isn't helping you feel as rested as it can.

  • You spend a lot of time trying to fall asleep once you get into bed and lay down. This could mean that you drank caffeine too late in the day or exercised right before bed so you're awake and wired. It could also be because you just watched a scary movie and you're too afraid to fall asleep!
  • You have surges of energy and tiredness so if you don't go to bed when you're feeling tired, you will never be able to fall asleep once you decide to get into bed if you're now feeling energetic!
  • Your sleep patterns are disturbed whether it's because your dog kicks at night, your partner snores or your work stress keeps waking you up in the middle of the night. This can cause your daytime sleepiness.

Trying to strike a work-life balance and focusing on your night time routine can help significantly to getting yourself more restful sleep.
