When you and your friend have plans to meet up for lunch or coffee or a shopping date, it can really suck when they text you to cancel. Now when that happens, there are a few ways that you can respond depending on how you're feeling and how you want to move forward with this friend.

  • "Thanks for letting me know" is a nice response when someone cancels because a lot of people just ghost out on others now, so to have someone let you know they cannot make your date to meet-up is really nice and appreciative.
  • "Let me know when we can reschedule" if you want to still see this person even after they've had to cancel. It doesn't pressure your friend to make new plans right away, but it leaves the door open for you to see that friend again when they are free.
  • Show yourself some love if you're feeling down about someone cancelling plans with you, take the time to focus on yourself and indulge in some things that you wouldn't normally do. You can still have a good time even if it's spent on yourself.

I imagine most of us make plans not expecting them to get cancelled, but sometimes things happen, and when they do, you should try to think on the positive side of things.
