At the beginning of the year, I became a vegan. With the new diet, I have noticed changes with my body. Bustle, and Dr. Anthony Kouri, MD, who is an orthopedic surgeon, explains that there are weird things that you might notice with your body that is actually a sign of good health.

  • Flaking skin is a totally normal process that your body goes through every once in a while. Your skin sheds itself to allow for the formation of new skin. You can help this process along if you want to by exfoliating in the shower, but your body  will eventually flake off the skin on its' own, so you don't have to do anything if you don't want to.
  • Boogers don't just show up when you're sick. In fact, boogers are there to help protect your lungs from viruses and things like dust. Blowing your nose when you're not sick is also normal, and your body will just produce more mucus to help keep you safe.
  • Passing gas is considered a normal part of the digestive process. In fact, passing gas up to 20 times a day is considered average! Unless there's pain associated with it, or it's interrupting your daily life, gas is nothing to be worried about. We all do it.

Ironically, if you're worried about your health, there are some things that your body does that you might think is a sign of poor health that could actually be a sign of your body being really healthy!
