I know that most of us spend a lot of our days in front of computers, cell phones and televisions. Whether for work, or for pleasure, screens take up a lot of our visual space. Cutting back on the use of screens can help you in a multitude of ways, so here are some ways you can cut back on your screen time.

  • Stop taking your phone to bed with you because I am definitely prone to spending too much time on my phone after laying down at night, and reaching for my phone first thing in the morning. It's definitely not a healthy habit, and certainly makes it harder to fall asleep at night.
  • Think twice before checking your phone because chances are, whatever notification you received isn't that important. Apps that you don't need notifications for (food ordering apps, maybe Snapchat and/or Instagram even) you should disable the push alerts for so that you don't find yourself opening your phone at every notification.
  • Have your friends call you instead of text you as you (and myself) usually spend a lot of time texting friends that could be summed up in a minute long phone call. Texting is easier, but a phone call is definitely more personal.

I am constantly on my phone or computer, so I get that it can be hard to look away or walk away, but I definitely believe we would all be better off and healthier with less screen time.
