The Southern Tier Is ‘Caring for Our Community One Step at a Time’ With the 100K Challenge
A new month has rolled in and with it comes an exciting virtual 100k walk or run challenge where proceeds will benefit the Southern Tier community. During the entire month of August, Tioga State Bank and the Owego Kitchen are co-hosting a virtual “Community Care 100k Run/Walk Challenge” and although the month has already begun, you can still sign up to participate.
For each person who takes the challenge and completes it, Tioga State Bank will donate $25 (up to $5,000) to local food banks which directly help those who live in our community.
The Community Care 100k Challenge is a virtual event which means that participants will be doing it on their own time and at their own pace. By conducting the challenge this way and allowing it to run for the duration of the month of August, participants of all ages and physical conditions can move at their own pace, focusing on something positive and healthy.
The Community Care 100k (2 miles) is being organized through the Nike Run Club App and if you’d like to sign up, the steps to do so are pretty easy. Download the Nike Run Club App, create an account, on the home screen, click the People icon at the bottom right of the screen, click add friend, search for Owego Kitchen. The Owego Kitchen will invite you to the challenge, so make sure to accept their invite- this will not be done automatically.
There is no cost to participate in the Community Care 100k Challenge and every person who completes the 100k Challenge in August will receive a shirt with a custom logo for the event.
