Things are beginning to turn around for 2021 with coronavirus cases declining, some restrictions being lifted, and high-risk high school sports returning to the Southern Tier. I'm really excited that basketball is returning this Friday and I'll be officiating a game for the first time since last March.

While things are looking up, there still is food insecurity in our area and some people still aren't sure where their next meal may come from. We all have heard about someone that experienced this problem for the first time and they were too proud to ask for help. PLEASE DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU!

If that's you, let the Foodbank of the Southern Tier help you. They are a support network of food pantries and meal sights in Broome, Chemung, Skyler, Stuben, Tioga, and Thompkins County.

To find the places closest to you, go here and click on Find Food. If food insecurity isn't a problem in your life but you want to help, then become a volunteer. They need people who can commit to multiple volunteer shifts, this way they can reduce the number of people that come into the Food Bank.

Before you register, see their Volunteer Safety Guidelines and check out their virtual training video before your shift. This is another way to make a difference for others that will make a difference in your life too.

Go here to see the areas that can use your help right now including Whitney Point on Wednesday, February 10th. The Foodbank of the Southern Tier believes that no one should go to bed hungry and right now you can "check out hunger."

You see how your $2, $3, or $5 donation can be turned into 6 meals, a backpack or $28 of food. You can check out hunger through March 14th,
