Shower Habits That Make You Sick
I don't know anything that feels better than a long, hot shower after a hard day's work. But Bustle warns that your shower habits may be making you sick. Here are some of those habits that you may want to avoid.
- Showering too frequently, such as more than once a day, can dry out your skin which can lead to cracking. This is more concerning as you get older because your skin will start to produce less natural oils as you age.
- Soaking in super hot water and lingering in the shower can be harmful because it will bring blood to the surface of your skin and promote inflammation. This habit can affect your blood pressure and leave you feeling woozy.
- Leaving your razor in the shower may seem convenient, but you should move it outside the shower to a dry place between shower sessions because leaving it in a moist environment can allow it to breed bacteria.
- Taking too many baths, if you're more of a bath person, too many relaxing baths can lead to you getting a UTI because when you're sitting in the water, soap and other bath products have an easier chance to enter your urinary tract to create an infection.
As relaxing as a shower or bath can be, it can make you sick in a number of ways. So try getting down to the nitty gritty quickly and only when necessary (so no more than once a day) to try and keep yourself healthy and to avoid getting sick from your shower.
