You go to bed at the same time every night, close the curtains to darken the room, turn on the fan for some white noise, and still you lay there unable to fall asleep. Bustle believes that sleep hygiene can be just as important as anything else when it comes to getting a good night's sleep.

  • Put on some socks which can definitely seem weird and almost impossible to fall asleep wearing socks, but getting your feet warm can help you fall asleep quicker, and allow you to stay asleep throughout the night as your body is more easily able to regulate your body temperature.
  • Meditate before getting into bed as a way to slow your breathing and quiet your mind. If you're still thinking about everything that you have to get done tomorrow, you'll never be able to fall asleep.
  • Soak in the tub to get yourself in the right relaxed mindset before bed. You'll be all warmed up and comfortable before slipping between the sheets and falling almost instantly to sleep.

Nothing is worse than waking up in the morning and not feeling as though you slept at all. Having a routine before bed is so important to get your mind and body prepared to sleep if you want to feel rested in the morning.
