Getting a migraine headache has to be the worst feeling in the world! Bustle, and Dr. Lauren R. Natbony who is an assistant professor of neurology, explain that food can be used as a preventative measure in order to stave off migraines.

  • Avoid common trigger foods such as wine or chocolate (I'm so sorry!) which can often lead to migraine headaches. Artificial sweeteners, additives and and preservatives can also bring on a killer headache as well. Learn what is in your food, and what you're most sensitive to when a migraine hits you.
  • Consider a lifestyle change when it comes to your food and eating habits. A 2014 study showed that a plant-based diet could help you when dealing with migraines as well as other health issues that you might be facing.
  • Stock up on preventative foods which would be foods high in vitamin B2 and/or coenzyme Q10. Leafy green vegetables, strawberries and peanuts are all great preventative foods for migraines.

A migraine in the middle of the day could debilitate you for the rest of the afternoon. However, preventing yourself from getting a massive headache all together could be as simple as paying attention to what you do and don't eat.
