The Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter is holding its 15th annual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Binghamton Walk this weekend.  The registration and check-in at the Otsiningo Park north shelter starts at 9 a.m. June 3 with the Walk beginning at 10 a.m.

According to the Scleroderma Foundation, patients can suffer from one of several autoimmune rheumatic diseases that often manifests itself as a visible hardening of the skin.

The disease, however, can target other tissue including the body’s organs.

While there are medications to help manage the symptoms disease to some extent, there is no cure.

Scleroderma is not necessary progressive and is not contagious or malignant but can be life-threatening and is different from patient to patient.
