Preventative health has to be something you think about daily, weekly and monthly. Yearly screenings are so important, and so are your vaccinations, but there are other things that you need to more frequently to keep yourself healthy.

  • Take some "me" time when you feel like you to because stress can add up quickly if you don't let yourself relax. And find what works best for you in terms of relaxation. Don't make yourself love bubble baths if you really like hiking. Don't force yourself to meditate if you get frustrated with that. Find what helps you to relax best.
  • Exercise is essential to your physical and mental health. Raising your heart rate for 30 minutes a day doing whatever it is that you enjoy doing (walking, running, yoga, pilates, whatever you like), can have a profound effect on your health.
  • Eat healthy to feed your body the vitamins and minerals that it needs. It's amazing how good you can feel when you eat fruits and vegetables (seriously!). I'm not saying you have to abandon the baked goods and junk foods, but add the healthier foods into your life and you'll be amazed at how good you'll feel.

It can be hard to be healthy, but just like anything else, it takes work until you develop the habits. Preventative health can transform your life.
