Man Has Food Pantry On His Front Yard
If this story doesn't make you want to be a more charitable person then I am not sure what will. A guy right up the road in Watertown has a food pantry in his yard.
I think this is a brilliant idea and I hope it catches on. I always say when we do our annual Food-A-Bago food drive for the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) that making sure someone has a warm meal on the table should not be something than ANY family should have to struggle to get.
According to CNN, Roman Espinoza set up a tiny food pantry on his lawn...and it's called a "Blessing Box." People can either donate items or take them if they need them.
"There's not a lock on it—it's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
And it doesn't hold just food either: People also donate other essentials like toiletries. Espinoza says others in the community have even asked him for help putting up their own Blessing Boxes; he hopes to have "a few around town" soon.
What a great idea! I would love it if it catches on in other communities as well.
