I haven't had a dog since I was a little girl and my husband hasn't had a dog since his Dalmatian Misty died in 2014 and although my husband and I had talked about getting a dog for our son when he was tiny, the timing and our life situation weren't where it needed to be for that to happen - until now.

When everything aligned for us to be able to get a dog, my husband and I decided that we wanted it to be a total surprise for our son and that we wanted the puppy to have a name before being presented to our boy.

My husband and I tossed around no less than a hundred names, going back and forth. Some of the names made us laugh while others were just so bad that we couldn't help but laugh and shake our heads.

Our new Goldendoodle puppy's name is Harper. He was named after the author Harper Lee who wrote the book 'To Kill A Mockingbird and Bryce Harper who is the favorite baseball player of both my husband and son.
