You might be on autopilot when you go to the gym most days, but does that mean you're not getting the most out of your workout? You should try to be more present during your routines to make sure that you're getting the most out of your time at the gym.

  • Focus on your form and pay attention to your breathing. It's good to make sure that you are lifting or stretching or running properly to ensure that your body is reaping all of the benefits from your workout.
  • Listen to a playlist that really gets you in the mood to work your hardest. Upbeat songs can really inspire you to push yourself more than you would without music, and with a playlist there is a specified amount of time that you can set your routine to and know when you're done or moving on to the next thing at the gym.
  • Mix it up! If you normally walk on the treadmill during your workout routine, change it up a little bit by walking sideways or play with the speeds and go faster or slower at certain increments.

Going to the gym takes enough effort in and of itself, so once you're there, you definitely want to get the most of the time you spend there.
