Why “We” Resolutions May Not Be Good For Your Relationship
Happy New Year! Resolutions for the new year are something incredibly personal, and because of that, it's not always wise to ask your partner to join you in your goals. It may not be good for your relationship to create "we" resolutions.
Whether you want to lose weight this year, or drink less, or have any number of other goals, these resolutions are personal to you, and your significant other may not have the same goals as you. Even if they do have resolutions this year, you both need to understand that your success or their success is not "our success". Resolutions are personal, and the success or failure of your resolution is personal to you as well.
Getting support from your partner is important, but that doesn't mean they need to join you in your journey. And you need to support them in their own journeys as well, whether or not your goals are the same.
