Now Trending: Love in the Back of a U-Haul Truck
"Love in the Back of a U-Haul Truck" sounds like some weird twangy country song or a parody song and as far as we know, there isn't a song with that title but if this new trend continues, there might be soon.
Have you ever packed or unpacked a U-Haul? The first time I saw some people packing up a U-Haul, it was the dead of winter and maybe 15 degrees and I couldn't understand why the whole crew of people were carting things out of the apartment and into the truck in shorts.
And then, I moved myself with the help of a U-Haul truck. Those suckers are hot and its doesn't matter what the weather is like outside.
It could be 15 degrees or 91 degrees and it doesn't matter- the back of a U-Haul is sweltering - even with the back open. So, why is the new "thing" to rent a U-Haul truck for date night? TikTok, that's why.
Someone posted on TikTok that they enjoyed a date in the back of a U-Haul truck (with a willing participant one can only hope) and not wanting to miss out on something, others jumped on the idea.
The concept is this - pick up dinner to go from your favorite restaurant, rent a U-Haul, find a place to park, sit on the floor of the truck while eating dinner, and then set up a blow up mattress on the floor to um, lay and stare at the ceiling (or something like that).
The only thing I can think is that couples wanting to experience something a little different than the norm who don't have a vehicle of their own figure that U-Haul's base rate of $19.95 a day plus mileage and gas is a good deal.
But still - I'm so confused. I have so many thoughts about this running through my head and not a single one of them involves me ever wanting to go on a date in the back of a U-Haul truck. Ever. However, I bet U-Haul is loving the boost in rentals!
