What you put in your mouth before and after a workout is just as important as exercising itself. You can work your butt off, but if you don't pair it with healthy food choices then why even workout?

The only problem is, I am the absolute wrong person to advise you on this subject. My idea of getting exercise is having shoes without Velcro. But, I have been starting to walk and lift some weights, so I can help you with one thing.

My expertise is in what you should NOT eat before and after a workout. These tips come from experience rather than health magazines.

I have found that it is best for me to not eat at all before a workout. But, if you are really hungry, something with a lot of protein has been my best choice. It doesn't bloat me or make me sluggish.

Plus, I once had candy before a workout and that was the absolute worst thing.

After a workout, my best food option is a protein bar. But, if you are going to eat carbs or anything like that, after your workout is the time to do it. Once again, these are just some tips that work from my experience.
