It's going to be way too hot this weekend. I love summer weather, but give me a break! Thankfully, Bustle, and the National Weather Service, have announced some ways that we can all stay safe during this heat wave.

  • Stay hydrated! Drink water and eat water-dense foods like watermelon and cantaloupe these next couple of days. You're going to sweat a lot, that's kind of unavoidable when it's this hot out, so re-hydrate yourself as often as you can.
  • Avoid the hottest part of the day so if you normally take a walk during your lunch hour, skip that and wake up a little earlier and walk when the day is coolest (4am-7am). This also includes mowing your lawn or other outside activities that are physically exhausting.
  • Watch out for others in this heat if you think someone looks dehydrated or in need of a way to cool down. Looking out for one another in the heat (just like we need to do the same in the extreme cold) is so, so important. We all need to be kept safe, and some individuals need more help than others. So check on your neighbors, especially those who live alone, to make sure they are safe in this heat wave.

In a couple months, we're all going to complain that it's too cold outside once the snow hits, so while we have the sun and the heat, we should all try to enjoy it as best as we can, but we need to be safe! Stay hydrated!
