Relief! Broome County Lists Dozens of Cooling Center Sites

With high temperatures expected to reach 90 or above for the next several days, the Broome County Health Department is encouraging people to seek some relief at "cooling centers."

Health department director Mary McFadden on Thursday afternoon said there have been reports that some residents have been using hospital emergency departments in recent days. She said if the need is not urgent, people should seek other cooling center options.

The health department issued a list of more than two dozen locations where Broome residents can go to help cope with the heat.
