Milestones You Don’t Need To Reach By Your First Anniversary
A year may seem like a long time to date someone, but don't think that you have to do everything with your partner in the first year. Bustle says that there are some milestones that you don't need to reach by your first anniversary even if you think that you need to.
- Making plans for the future doesn't have to happen within the first year. You don't have to have everything figured out or be engaged or living together. It's nice to still date because once you're married, it'll be much harder to remember to have a date night!
- Knowing they're "the one" is something that you really don't need to decide after one year, it may take longer than that! And that's okay! While a year may seem like a long time, it really isn't that much time to figure out who you'll be with for the rest of your life.
- Trusting each other completely is a tough thing to do if you've been betrayed or cheated on in the past. Your partner should respect that especially if you are working towards breaking down those high fences that you may have put up.
Some couples meet and get married in the same year, and other couples take their time and get to know each other before jumping into lifelong commitment. Do what is best for you and your partner, and don't force each other to commit too soon or go too slowly. You'll feel out a good pace for yourselves.
