Two Southern Tier Counties Reach COVID Milestones

Three counties in the Southern Tier region are reporting deaths from the coronavirus in their updates January 18 while case number mile-stones are being reached in two counties.

Broome reports four men in their 70s, 80s and 90s have passed away, bringing the death toll to 209. There were 134 new cases for a total of 10,758.

Cortland County has surpassed 3,000, adding 17 in the January 18 report. Cortland County’s total number of positive tests for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,008. There was another death, bringing the county’s total to 58.

One death was also reported in Delaware County, bringing the toll to 21.  Delaware will pass the 1,000 case mark January 19.  January 18 it reported five new cases for a total of 998.

Chenango County and Tioga County had no updates to report January 18 due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday.
