If you've recently graduated from college and all of your friends are now miles and miles away, you might be looking to make some new friends locally. Bustle has found ways to make friends as an adult, and these tips may help you as well.

  • Check out places that are adults only such as coffee shops during the day or even bars if you're feeling brave. Most people like to chit chat, and if you're friendly enough, you won't turn them off if you ask to sit with them.
  • Take the initiative just like you would want to do if you were trying to date someone. Offer to buy the next round or suggest something to do together the following weekend.
  • Realize that you're not the only awkward one because meeting new people and trying to make friends is always awkward. You don't want to seem like you're hitting on them, but you don't want to act too casual either. There's a fine line in between that you're trying to walk on.

Making new friends can be exciting, just like it is when you start dating again, and if that person is also looking for another friend, then you could very well have hit the jackpot!
