Endicott Man Arrested After Threatening Police With Knife
An Endicott man is accused of threatening Johnson City Police with a knife.
Authorities responded to a home on Endicott Avenue Tuesday, December 21 for a report of a man possibly having a mental health issue.
40-year-old Travis Cornell barricaded himself in a 2nd floor bathroom, then jumped out a window, threatened police with a knife and ran for several blocks.
He was found hiding behind a vehicle on Burbank Avenue.
Johnson City Police say Cornell refused to show his hands and comply with officers’ commands and police incapacitated him with pepper balls.
Police say Cornell suffered some self-inflicted injuries prior to their arrival and sustained a leg injury in his leap from the second-floor window. He was treated at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center before being arraigned on felony counts of Menacing a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
Authorities say Cornell was also on parole. He’s being held in the Broome County Jail without bail.
