Two Arrested for Drugs in Johnson City During Rape Investigation
A raid of a Johnson City home is resulting in a long list of charges against a local man and a downstate resident.
In a media release posted on facebook, Johnson City Police say they were investigating an alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl on June 24 when two men tried to escape by jumping out a second floor window on Brown Street onto a rooftop.
Detectives say when they approached the men, they retreated back inside the home. When officers went inside, 36-year-old Rayshawn Thompson of Johnson City and 27-year-old Elgui Javier of the Bronx were found holding narcotics in their hands.
Authorities say they confiscated 17 suboxone strips, over 16 grams of methamphetamine, over 200 grams of cocaine, over 10 grams of Fentanyl, drug packaging materials and evidence related to the alleged sexual offense.
Detectives say they also recovered over $12,000 in cash.
Thompson and Javier are each charged with a ten counts of various degrees of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as felony tampering with physical evidence and a misdemeanor count of criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Javier is also charged with felony rape and felony criminal sexual act.
Both men were sent to the Broome County Jail following arraignment.
