Researchers have found that the best and quickest way to feel better after a heated argument with a romantic partner was to hug it out. Fighting can be very stressful and, and interpersonal touch can lower stress levels and help you calm down.
Hugging also triggers the release of oxytocin which is the hormone linked to relationship building, so if you and your partner have fought, hugging afterwards is a good way to feel better about the relationship.
So the next time you and your significant other have a verbal spat, you can always hug it out afterwards if you want to help each other feel better.
