Wegmans, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Kohls are among stores modifying masking policy, especially in areas where the COVID infection rates are surging.

In an statement on their website, the Rochester-based Wegmans said after reviewing the updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as state and local health departments, it was decided to “strongly encourage all customers, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a face mask while shopping with us.”  As of the evening of August 3, all employees were told to wear a face mask at work.

Lowes and Home Depot both updated their policy on Monday, August 2 to require all associates to wear masks indoors. Customers were also being encouraged to wear masks while shopping and masks were being provided in the stores to customers who want one.

Home Depot in their statement adds they strongly encourage their employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine and offer free resources to cover childcare and transportation and to find a vaccination site for associates.
