Distance can be one of the hardest things for a couple to go through. Bustle, and relationship coach Chris Armstrong, explain that there are some things you and your significant other can do in order to make the long distance a little less lonely.

  • Send care packages every once in a while to your partner with things that you know that they love or things you saw in the store that made you think of them. They will be able to enjoy what's in the box and know that you were thinking of them and miss them.
  • Keep making future plans with your partner so that you both have something to look forward to. If there is a trip that you want to take with them, let them know that, so even if you don't know the exact time you and your significant other will be reunited, you still have something to envision about together.
  • Send photos of where you are as that can help you both feel connected and feel as though you are in the same place together and experiencing things together. The more of your lives that you two share together, the closer you two will feel.

A long distance relationship can absolutely work with open communication and respect. It can certainly be harder than a normal relationship, but if the relationship is worth it for you and your partner, you will survive despite the loneliness.
