Science Says “Don’t Be Friends With Your Ex”
Research out of Oakland University, and published in Journal Personality, says that you should not try to stay friends with an ex. The research suggests that whoever initiates wanting to be friends likely does so in order to keep sleeping with their ex partner. And sleeping with an ex is a sure fire way to never get over them.
On top of that, the research says as much as 6.2% of adults have narcissistic personality disorder and likely do not think that they did anything wrong in the failed relationship.
While being in a relationship does make you feel closer to a person and perhaps you two have many fond memories and have shared secrets with one another, but removing the romance and leaving the friendship is a difficult task, and you or your ex-partner may not be able to handle having that missing intimacy that you two once had. It's best just to hold on to the memories and let them go.
