Did the last presidential election bring out some less than pleasant emotions between you and your loved ones this year? Politics was a hard topic to bring up around the dinner table for most of us in the last year, and I'm sure there were some hurt feelings and cold shoulders passed around by the barrel. Brit.co has a good idea on how you can begin to repair your relationships that politics got in the middle of.

Try mirroring, which is similar to active listening but has a twist which can help prevent hurt feelings and defensive behavior. When politics come up in the conversation, instead of getting defensive and angry, mirror back to them what you are hearing and let them know that you understand that what they are saying is important.

It's possible to agree to disagree without being cruel or disrespectful. It may take work, but it is entirely doable if you try.
