Monetary Incentives Don’t Get People To The Gym
I have not only been heavy but huge most of my life. And, I can tell you with certainty that money did little if anything at all to get me to go to the gym more.
Now, there is a new study to back that up. People have tried everything over the years to get me to eat better and exercise...threatening me, bribing me and making me feel guilty.
I can tell you that none of that worked. When I was tired of being unhealthy, I made the decision to change.
According to Case Western Reserve University, people who did the study were offered financial incentives to go to the gym a certain amount of times. By the end of the study, only one-third of the people from the study stuck to the deal to get to the gym more.
Does that surprise any of you? Not me. I was told once that if I join a gym I will go because I would hate to see that money wasted by not going. Guess what? It didn't work.
But, what I can tell you is that when you are ready to make chance in any area of your life, no matter what that area is, you will do it.
