Whether you work in an office cubicle or wait tables at a diner, there are some things that we all have done at one time or another that makes us look unprofessional. Bustle explains that these mistakes could make us look unreliable and unlikable, so let's kick these habits.

  • Being consistently late to work in the morning. I get it, mornings are tough until you get your first cup of coffee in you, but being notoriously late to work could eventually cost you your job. You don't want that to happen.
  • Wearing inappropriate clothing and that could mean something too casual or too revealing in some cases. Maybe button up one more on your shirt or make sure that your pants are ironed. If you look like you don't really care about your job, your boss is going to think that you don't really care about your job.
  • Gossiping which can be a hard habit to break from high school, and when you spend eight hours a day with the same people, it's difficult not to get a little invested in their lives. However, gossiping can be seen as sad and petty, so try not to get roped into it.

Every workplace is different, and what is seen as unprofessional can be different in each place of business, but generally there are things that you just cannot do if you want to look professional.
