I don't vape myself, but I know a lot of people who do, and with New York trying to ban flavored e-cigarettes, it makes me a little nervous for my vaping friends! If you vape yourself, be aware of some of the health risks involved.

  • It can increase your risk for heart attacks by about 34% than those that do not use any vaping devices and 25% more likely to have coronary artery disease. This is because of the chemicals within the oils that people vape with.
  • It can impact your mental health as research has shown that e-cigarette users were 55% more likely to suffer from depression or anxiety. More research is needed to see the effects of nicotine consumption on brain function and mental health in young people though.
  • It damages your lungs just like regular cigarettes do as well. There are metals in e-cigarettes that can tear up your lungs and induce asthma and decrease lung function.

While I wouldn't start telling my friends how to live their lives (we all have bad habits), it's good to be aware of the side effects of anything that we put into our bodies.
