What Your Hair Can Tell You About Your Health
It is really amazing how your health comes through when you look at your skin, teeth or hair. Bustle, and Lauren Fink who is a hairstylist, explain just what your hair can tell you about your overall health.
- You could be low on iron as a sign of an iron deficiency is hair loss. If you've noticed more hair than usual falling out when you brush your hair in the morning, you might have anemia, and you should talk to your doctor about your diet and if you need to start taking an iron supplement.
- You could need more water which can be seen through your hair as 25% of the strands on your head are made of water, so if your hair is dehydrated and looking dried out. If your hair isn't growing as fast as you think it should be, or your hair is more oily than usual, those are two big signs from your hair that you need to drink more water.
- You might have thyroid issues if you're noticing patchy spots in your hair and more than usual hair loss. Hair follicles are regulated by your thyroid hormones, so if those are out of whack, you will definitely be able to notice a change in your hair's regeneration.
It's so interesting how your body can alert you of health problems going on inside you by the changes going on outside that you can see and react to.
