We keep hearing about this thing called "Crossfit", but do you really understand what it is? What are the goals of Crossfit?

Crossfit is unlike many of the methods of working out available right now. Crossfit is focused less on "vanity" muscles, and more on "functional" strength, through high intensity workouts. According to the website CrossfitDefined.com, some of the items that Crossfit focuses on are:

  • Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance
  • Stamina
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Agility
  • Balance
  • Accuracy

So where does "functional" strength and "functional" movements play in to your life? I suppose the better question is, where doesn't it? The term "functional" is used as a utilitarian term. How can you best work out and use those types of workouts to help with your every day life? From lifting a ton of groceries, to leaping over creek ledges with your kids, to helping your little ones or grandchildren to play "horsey". These movements are much more smooth, and purposely directed at helping you with every day use.

See the video below for a great description of what to expect with your Crossfit routines:
