New Sign Warns Vestal Business Customers of the Risk of Flooding
People who visit a Vestal retail complex now are being alerted that water could rise rapidly in the parking lot.
A "Flood Zone" sign has been installed at the Vestal Parkway entrance to the Campus Plaza.
The warning indicates water could rise from "1 to 3 feet." It advises drivers to "enter at your own risk."
Cars have been surrounded by water near the Applebee's restaurant and the Horizons Federal Credit Union office in the plaza several times in recent years.
It's not known how many vehicles have been damaged by flooding in the parking lot.
Property records indicate the shopping center is owned by an entity in Arizona. A call to the plaza's management company in Rochester was not returned.
