State Troopers Still Recuperating After Broome County Shootings
Two New York State Police troopers have experienced some complications since they were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Broome County this month.
Trooper Ryan Thorp, who works out of Deposit, remains hospitalized at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.
Thorp was wounded last Wednesday night when he responded to a domestic dispute in the village of Deposit. He sustained injuries to an arm in the incident.
Trooper Becky Seager, who works out of the Kirkwood station, was hospitalized for a short time at Wilson. A state police spokeswoman said Seager is receiving continuing care for complications from her injuries.
Seager sustained wounds to the hip area in a June 9 shooting on East Windsor Road in the town of Colesville.
44-year-old Scott Mawhiney of Deposit has been accused of shooting Thorp. 34-year-old Jason Johnson of Colesville has been accused of shooting Seager. Both suspects have been charged with attempted murder. They're being held in Broome County Jail.
