Over $40,000 Recovered For Cancelled New York Weddings
The pandemic certainly turned our lives upside down, no disagreements there. Its effects changed so much of our daily lives. And it continues to do so. As someone who occasionally mobile DJs events, it pretty shut down the industry for many months.
And that meant disappointment for brides and grooms who had planned their wedding and reception during the time of the pandemic, due to venues that host the event having to close down. That meant a lot of work to cancel the wedding and attempt to reschedule for another time when the venues reopened.

For the past year or so, weddings have resumed and hopefully, couples were able to reschedule or get their refunds returned with no issues. That wasn't the case with some couples who had booked a wedding at a venue in the Hudson Valley of New York.
According to a recent press release, New York State Attorney General Letitia James went to bat for several couples who were denied their deposits when the pandemic hit, and their wedding had to be canceled due to pandemic restrictions on large weddings.
Two couples were awarded $18,300 dollars, and the venue also will also provide additional refund payments for any others "who made deposits between June 26, 2020, and May 19, 2021, but were denied refunds."
So far, New York State Attorney General Letitia James has recovered millions of dollars in refunds for pandemic-related shutdowns for people in New York, including a downstate broadway theater, a country club, and a ticket seller.
