1921 is also the year that Harold Gary was born. Mr. Gary was just eight years old when the Great Depression began and twelve when it finally ended. When Mr. Gary turned 18, World War II was just starting and by the time it ended six years later, Mr. Gary was a young man of 24 who served his country in the war from 1942 to 1945 as a member of the United States Navy.

Mr. Gary has lived to see an abundance of incredible things in the span of his life. From the construction of the Empire State Building to the first man walking in space to Jackie Robinson becoming the first African-American man to play professional baseball and the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

On Friday, May 28, 2021, Mr. Gary will celebrate a momentous birthday, his 100th, and to celebrate the life of this amazing man, and war hero, Mr. Gary's friends, and family are inviting the public to a casual birthday celebration for him on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Mr. Gary's birthday celebration will be held at the Montrose High School track between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Monstrose High School is located at 75 Meteor Way in Montrose, PA.

The birthday celebration for Mr. Gary will be a casual one, all are welcome, and you can come and go as you please. Cupcakes will be available while supplies last. Take a walk around the track, drop off a birthday card for Mr. Gary and thank him for his military service, check out some of the books that he's written, and also learn about Mr. Gary's favorite non-profit organization, the Twin Tiers Honor Flight.
