Police: JC Man Threatened to Kill His Son with Hatchet
Authorities in Johnson City say an enraged father used a hatchet to chop through his own apartment door in an argument over loud music.
According to police, 60-year-old Lee Parker of Grand Avenue was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He also was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
Police were called to the residence around 1:45 a.m. Thursday for a reported domestic dispute involving the father and son.
Parker allegedly chopped through the apartment door with the hatchet and threatened to kill his son with the tool.
Police say Parker lives above his son in the apartment house. They say his son was trying to get him to turn down the volume of his music.
The son and his friend were able to return to the son's apartment to call police. Officers recovered the hatchet.
Parker was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail.
