Reading as a past time has been known to attract the young and the young-at-heart because imagination is such an important thing to have when reading. Bustle is saying that those who read are also much more thoughtful as well!

According to a study out of Kingston University in London, over 100 adults were asked about their preferences for books, television shows and movies while also being tested  on their interpersonal skills, such as their likelihood to help those around them.

The results showed that those who read were much more empathetic to people around them in comparison to the people who preferred watching television over reading.

What is being seen here is that by exposing themselves to different kinds of experiences through characters in books, readers learn skills to think about, understand and adopt ideas outside of what they already know without losing sight of their own thoughts.

Reading is neat, huh?
