Among the findings is a call for increasing resources for healthcare professionals to treat substance use disorder and reining-in the over-prescribing of opioids.

Senator Akshar said the report is about getting real results in the fight against heroin and opioids.

The Republican was part of a panel of lawmakers holding dozens of hearings across the state.

The Senate Majority formed the task force in 2014.  Nine hearings and forums were held over the last two years, including meetings in Cortland and Binghamton.

The full report includes all 11 recommendations as well as more information and details about those steps and current efforts spearheaded by the Task Force. The report is at: www.nysenate.gov.
