The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) announces its first face mask contest. They are encouraging everyone to "mask your face, not your feelings." They not only endorsing the health benefits of wearing protective face masks but how many people wear "masks" every day to hide their true feelings and thoughts.

We've all been affected one way or another by the coronavirus pandemic and it's easy to hide our true feelings. MHAST wants you to know that it's okay to have a conversation, even if it's uncomfortable.

They are hoping this contest will begin that conversation. They will honor the most creative handmade makes and is open to all community members, regardless of age, in Broome and Tioga Counties. Categories include Best Overall, Best Hometown Theme, Best Team Theme, Best Youth Entry (up to 12 years old), Best Teen Entry, Funniest, and more.

The face mask contest begins on July 1st and will run until August 3rd. Entries will be accepted online with the winners being announced in conjunction with First Friday on August 7th.
