Pet ownership can be one of the most rewarding things that you can do for yourself. Psychology Today has even stated that it may have great health benefits as well, and I don't just mean that is warms your heart.

The American Heart Association has announced in recent years that owning a dog could decrease your risk for heart disease. I imagine that's because of the physical activity that your dog (and therefore you) needs throughout the day. A walk after dinner does both of you well!

Bonding with your dog has also shown significant links to lower heart rate and a reduction in stress hormones in the blood, both of these are great for the cardiovascular system.

Cardiovascular diseases, like heart disease, amounts to about a third of all deaths in the world, so if in order to prevent that, you can get yourself a dog and take your pooch out for a walk once a day, what are you waiting for?
