Ghosts, Poltergeists and Demons: What Are The Differences?
It's Halloween season! Full of ghouls and ghosts, poltergeists and demons, but did you know that those are all different things? Bustle has you covered in learning the differences between ghosts and poltergeists and demons.
- Ghosts are simply the spirits of those who have died and who choose to make themselves seen by the living. It could be an old widow waiting for her husband to come back from the sea, or a little boy who died far too young still wanting to play with us. Spirits who become ghosts generally had some sort of trauma while they were alive.
- Poltergeists are different from ghosts in the idea that they have the ability to make noise, move objects around and even attack or harass the living. Ghosts you can see, poltergeists you can feel and/or hear.
- Demons would be a whole different level of scary as they are considered evil spirits (so we're moving over to the religious side of things). Demons have the ability to possess a living person, and they feed off fear and anger in their ability of destruction.
Whether or not you believe in any of these spirits is your prerogative, but it's fun to learn about all of them this time of the year. Happy haunting!
