Felony Drunk Driving Charges in Dickinson Crash

A Binghamton man is facing two felony drunk driving charges following a crash in the Town of Dickinson November 13.

A Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol when she heard a crash at the intersection of Downs Avenue and Prospect Street at around 10 p.m. and determined one of two drivers, 35-year-old James Worhach, was intoxicated.

Authorities say Worhach was apparently traveling north on downs Avenue when he failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of Airport Road and Prospect Street and collided with a vehicle that had a steady green arrow as it was turning onto Prospect Street from Airport Road.

Worhach suffered a minor head injury while the driver of the other car was not hurt.

Authorities say they determined Worhach had a blood alcohol level of.28%, three-and-a-half times the legal limit.

He is charged with felony DWI for having a prior conviction within ten years and felony aggravated DWI for a blood alcohol level over.18% and was ticketed for no seat belt and passing a steady red signal.

Worhach has been ordered to appear in Town of Dickinson Court at a later date.

Worhach is the public information officer for the Broome County District Attorney's office and employed as a communications official in a previous Broome County Executive administration.
