Some jobs don't take a holiday, and when they don't, you have to make sacrifices. Thanksgiving and Christmas are both weekdays this year, so I will be at work while my family will be celebrating the holidays.

Now that I'm married, my amazing husband has decided to stick by my side for the holidays and not go home to Pittsburgh this year. I feel so bad, but I am very, very thankful for his sacrifices.

It will be a quieter season than years past because we'll be alone together this year and not with our families, but I think that will be pretty nice. We are planning some nice things to do (like seeing the new Star Wars movie on Christmas day!), but it will certainly be a smaller, less fantastic affair.

Of course, if you're in the same boat as I am this holiday season, don't let your family make you feel bad for missing Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. Hopefully next year you can all be together, and I'm sure you can see them at other times during the year, and that should make up for it as well.
