Do you like to reminisce? I do from time to time. Mostly I think about the good times over my several decades of being on this planet. I like to think of Classic Rock music being like that. The songs we play on 99.1 The Whale take us back to past and hopefully some great memories as you were growing up.

Even for the younger generation who have 'found' all this great Classic Rock music, maybe some of those songs will bring back good memories for them as well many years later. Classic Rock Music is timeless.

Something I ran across the vast internet this week, is a website devoted to listing the number one song during a person's birthday. Not just when you were born, but also every year after.

The site is called My Birthday Hits, and it's really cool to take a look at what song was number one for each of your birth dates. The song that topped the charts when I was born was 'Rock Around The Clock' by Bill Haley & The Comets. My first, second, fourth and fifth birthdays were rockin the number one position to the sounds of Elvis Presley. The song 'Volare' by Domenico Modugno took the top spot on my 3rd birthday.

The number one songs landing on my birthdays from age 6 to 18 were from Bobby Lewis,  Neil Sedaka, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Sonny & Cher, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Beatles, Rascals, Rolling Stones, Bread, The Bee Gees, Gilbert O'Sullivan and Diana Ross.

My Birthday Hits mentions that the number one song on your 14th birthday defines your life. On my 14th birthday, the number one song on the top 40 charts in the U.S. was 'Honky Tonk Woman' by The Rolling Stones, reaching that spot on my birthday, and staying there for 4 weeks. Not so sure about that song defining my life, though.

When I turned 21, the top song on the U.S. top hit charts was Elton John and Kiki Dee singing 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart', and on my 41st birthday, 'Macarena' was the number one song. Doesn't seem like that song has been around that long, although thinking back to how many times I've played that song at school dances and weddings, I guess it has been a while.

Thanks My Birthday Hits for reminding me of what songs were at the top of the charts on my birthdays. Some were great, and some, not so much. Just a matter of my musical tastes, I guess.
