Dealing With Sadness Around The Holidays
Not everyone looks forward to this time of the year. Maybe someone can't see their family at Christmas, or last year they were broken up with at the holidays and they don't exactly want to revisit those feelings and that moment.
So if you're dealing with sadness around the holidays this year, I get it, and there are some things that you can do to help yourself get through it.
Emotions that you're feeling this time of the year that are less than magical should be approached with compassion. What's causing your sad feelings may not be able to be resolved, but you can try to stay present in the moment of this year's holiday festivities instead of thinking about the past holidays that aren't happy to you.
Comparing this year to past years can definitely steal the joy of this year's events and parties. So while last year or other year's before had been sad or miserable, you can still try to make the most of it and enjoy your time with those around you even if you're missing someone this year.
Be thankful that you're here this year. The holidays are a time to feel renewed and refreshed and you can try to start over in the new year if you feel you need to.
