If you don’t like to do the Macarena then you are a liar. People might roll their eyes when I play it at a party, but they are just trying to make you believe that they don’t like doing one of the best group dances ever. The Electric Slide, Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey, Whip/ Nae Nae,  Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha Slide are all a lot of fun. And, it turns out that they are good for your health too.

According to the website wired.co.uk, a new study out of Oxford University in England found that people who do group dances have higher pain tolerances than people who don’t.

Their theory is that the dances are both good physical exercise AND good bonding experiences.  That makes your body release endorphins . . . like it would when you’re playing a team sport.

And endorphins have a lasting effect of making you better at dealing with pain. In other words, dances like the Macarena might help you take a punch to the FACE.  Possibly for suggesting that everyone dance to them?

So, the next time I break out the Gangnam Style, don’t throw your shoe at me…thank me!
