Could You Be Alcohol Intolerant?
After a night out on the town, the hangover the next day can be brutal. Bustle, and Dr. Benjamin Voight, PhD, who is an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania, explains that some people can feel the affects of a hangover after just a glass of wine or beer which means that they might be intolerant.
Alcohol intolerance tends to be genetic, but it's not quite an allergy like lactose intolerance. Flushing in the face and nasal congestion are two common symptoms of having an intolerance to alcohol.
There are tests that you can have done to see if you can actually digest the alcohol itself or if you have an allergy to something in the alcoholic drink (like the yeast in beer or additives in whiskey).
If you have a parent that doesn't like to drink and who possibly has an intolerance to alcohol, you might want to get tested yourself before going out downtown again.
